The fair features a little bit of everything: live music, a cowboy competition, car show and tractor pull, horse shows, crops and home arts competitions, tractor races, flyball, and even a midway, keeping the whole family entertained for the day.

There’s a good reason that the Norwood Fall Fair has been around for as long as it has, you’d be remiss if you never had a chance to join in the fun!

The township of Asphodel-Norwood in the County of Peterborough was created in 1998 when municipalities in Ontario were reorganised and many amalgamations occurred. The township is named after the two amalgamated municipalities the Asphodel Township and Norwood village.

The history of the present day township dates to 1904 when development in the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood began. It was instigated by land developers McDougall and Secord who sold 1200 lots in the new subdivision of Norwood. The township took off as a commercial and industrial town with 200-300 homes, stores, shacks and tents built by 1908 and also industries such as the Swift’s Meat Packing Company. This booming development drew services, churches, schools and many people into the area. The new Norwood school was finished in 1907 and St.Faith’s Anglican Church in 1910. During the Second World War and the following years into the 1950s the population and economy in the city boomed.

Also while the area has been noted for the diversity of its citizens, recent years have seen a marked shift in the character of the area as Portuguese, Somali, First nations and many others have taken residence.
